Use up the item and level up your enchant skill. The best way to level enchant would be to make an item with a charge cost of 1 but a good bit of charges. Also, bound item spells only cost about 15 or so, so you could make a locket of bound equipment that had most things you used cast on you when you wear it. Still only enough for a constant effect chameleon of 24 (I want my Amulet of "You Can't See Me :-p"), but it'd hold a good bit of fortify stat ehchantments. There were some lockets I found somewhere (I forget where) that hold 120. Armor and weapons don't hold much enchantment, but clothing and jewelry does. Anyway, you get them you need the soul trap spell cast on them and then, when they die, they get sucked into the gem and are ready for use. The best way to get golden saints is either a) scrolls or b) go to Tel Branora to find the lady selling the spell for summon golden saint. When you trap a soul, the smallest gem that will hold it will trap it.įor souls, I don't know if it's actually going by "toughness" or what, but golden saint souls are worth a 400 charge which is what is required for cosntant effect enchants. items don't hold much), a way to catch the soul (either the soultrap spell or an item with soul trap enchanted into it), and the soul (a monster).įor gems, they go from the smallish ones that are mostly useless to the grand soul gems and it's super special artifact-type gem, the Star of Azura which is a grand soul gem that, tho the soul gets used up, the gem itself never does (seeing it with a golden saint soul in it will make your jaw drop. It's a good way to get money for training those pesky misc skills.Īs for enchanting, you need 4 things: a soul gem (the bigger the soul gem, the bigger the soul it can hold), an item to enchant (extravagent clothing and lockets are the best things to enchant. Her money regens every 24 hours, so go on, do something else, come back, take her for all her money again. When you're done, sell them all for a small profit starting, but a huge one later on (I can make enough pots from 50 sets of ingredients to get all 3k of her money with an alchemy of about 75). So, buy a bunch, call up the alchemy screen, and keep trying to make pots. Every time you talk to her, she'll sell 10 of each. they both give you reduce intelligence or something along those lines. It's that simple.Ī good way to level up your alchemy skill is to go to the alchemist in Balmora and buy the muck and the other thing. If you have the other three things (I forget what they're called), they make better pots, but all of the tools have to be at the same grade for it to make a difference, I believe.Īdd two ingredients with the same abilities and you can try to make a potion. I only know that 3 and 4 come at those skill ratings, so don't crucify me -)Īnyway, when you use the mortar and pestle, you get the alchemy screen. I think that you can always see one effect, two at 25, three at 50, and all 4 at 75. The trick is to get two ingredients with the same effects. At higher levels gain experience in alchemy by brewing potions.Įnchanting: your skill level goes up a little each time you USE an enchanted item as well, so make a little amulet or ring of healing, or buy one somewhere, or something that summons a bound weapon, and use it a lot.Īlchemy, someone on the SA forums posted a chart from the hintbook that had all the different ingredients and their effect so you know what to combine. If you drop alchemical ingredients directly on your portrait your character will eat them, gaining a little experience in alchemy if your experience level is low.
This will bring up the alchemy or enchant interfaces.
#Morrowind alchemy how to
Oh - you asked HOW to use them? take the mortar and pestle or the soul gem and drop it on your little character portrait like you're equipping armor. You will need the other alchemical tools too though if you want to make good stuff, but the grandmaster Mortar&pestle you have will automatically make any potion you create more potent and valuable. I would also recommend holding onto the soul gems and grand master mortar&pestle - you wont get anything like what it's worth anyway, and mixing potions is a pretty decent way to raise some cash. I also make a lot of water walking and some levitation potions. I was making a few restore health but I didn't know where to get one ingredient except in stores, now I finally found where in the world it grows so I am happy and can make lots of health potions. Yeah those restore fatigue potions are actually handy too.
